Yoga 101

This course is a complete introduction to Yoga. It will provide you with the tools you need to get started and progress into regular classes safely and with confidence.

The focus will be on the learning the basics of a Hatha and Vinyasa Flow style practice, including the key actions and principles of alignment of the core postures, proper breathing techniques, basic philosophy, Sanskrit terminology and the art of relaxation.

These information-rich sessions will build on your knowledge and experience week by week. The small class size will allow time for questions and personal guidance, including modifications of postures to suit your individual needs.

Whether you are an absolute beginner, need a refresher, or have always wanted to know “am I doing this right”, this course is essential.

$100 + HST

Price includes Yoga 101 four-week series + one complimentary class (to any drop-in class, 2-month expiry)

Mindful Hike

Enjoy a hike through Christie Lake and the surrounding Hamilton waterfalls as I guide and teach you basic principles of mindfulness and meditation. These hikes will incorporate a series of short exercises and meditations at carefully chosen spots along the trail. You will learn to be present in your surroundings, calm your mind and stimulate your senses. Experience the outdoors and connect yourself with nature! No experience is necessary. Hiking difficulty is easy to moderate. Please wear appropriate footwear and bring a water bottle!

Spring Cleaning for the Mind and Body

Join myself & Tyler Jackson for a special two-hour free Member Event* to attune, awaken and prime for a beautiful Spring.  This special Member Event includes live music by Rob McAllister of Music Within.

As we emerge, blurry and disoriented from one of the harshest winters in recent memory, we invite our Members to unite in a special Spring Awakening workshop “Spring Cleaning for the Mind and Body” as we welcome with anticipation, honour and gratitude the rhythmic cycle of a new season. 

In this 2 hour practice we will seek to shift away from our collective state of increasing distraction, to a place of profound focus, presence, interconnectedness and regeneration. Working though Spring themes of awakening, expansion, lightness and cleansing, together we will embody mindful practices of somatic movement, purposeful stillness, creative interaction and sensory exploration.

This workshop will offer:
• live therapeutic music and sound
• movement to promote healthy circulation, balance and mobility
• wooden dowel practice and self-massage
• somatic sensory exploration
• opportunities for creative partner work and play
• deep restorative yoga postures

*COST: This event is FREE for Union Yoga Members

GUEST TICKETS: Members are welcome to bring a friend or loved one.  A limited number of guest tickets are available for $40 + hst.
